Camp Oven Dumplings

COOKING

  • Camp Oven - Moderate to Hot

INGREDIENTS

  • Laucke CWA Scone Mix made to the recipe
  • Small pack of fruit and nut mix (almond)
  • Butter
  • 1cup golden syrup
  • Water

METHOD

Separate and toast almonds in camp oven with a little butter.

Add fruit to scone mix made up to recipe on the box, and cut into rounds.

In camp oven, warm 2 cups water, 1 cup golden syrup and a large knob of butter.

Add scones, put lid on the pan and place on hot coals with good covering of hot coals on top also.

After 20 or 30 minutes, check.

Top with toasted almonds.

Scones are done when they sound ‘hollow’ when tapped.
